Scout Lookout
From the West Rim Trailhead near the Virgin River, the route leaves the canyon floor and climbs the west side of Zion Canyon, with the river corridor, Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, and the Great White Throne gradually opening across the valley.
After the lower switchbacks, the West Rim Trail enters the cooler, narrower passage of Refrigerator Canyon below Angels Landing, then rises sharply through the tight turns of Walter’s Wiggles.
Scout Lookout forms a natural panoramic endpoint, where the West Rim Trail continues onward and the Angels Landing route branches away, with open views over Zion Canyon, the Virgin River corridor, Angels Landing, the Great White Throne, and the surrounding sandstone walls.
